To bring Infinite Possibilities to the communities served by the Alameda County Library.
MISSION STATEMENT
Alameda County Library system provides and protects access to books, information and services that promote learning and enjoyment for everyone.

There are no library services mandated by law. The Education Code, Sections 19100-19180, allows the Board of Supervisors to establish and maintain a County free library, and to provide library services to unincorporated areas and to cities wishing to participate in the County free library system. There are three program areas within the County Library which provide library services to five participating cities, the unincorporated areas, and County institutions. Services are provided in the cities of Dublin, Fremont, Newark, Union City, and Albany. Unincorporated areas are served by branch libraries in San Lorenzo and Castro Valley. Outreach services are provided through the Bookmobile, the Literacy Program, the Senior Outreach Program, the County Jails, and by contract with the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin.
