Chapter 6.04 ALAMEDA COUNTY FIRE CODE*
Section 6.04.090 Article 10— Fire-Protection Systems and Equipment, Section 1001— General amended.
Sections 1001.4.1 and 1001.4.2 are added to this code to read:
1001.4.1 (Expiration) Fire Department approval of such plans shall be void after 180 days if
a
building permit is not issued within such time, or if an existing building permit becomes invalid.
1001.4.2 (Certificate of Occupancy) The Building Official shall not issue a Certificate of
Occupancy or building final, or release utilities for any building requiring Fire Department
approval until the Fire Department has cleared and approved same.
Sections 1001.5.1.3 and 1001.5.1.4 are added to this code to read:
1001.5.1.3 (Inspection) Responsibilities of the alarm user shall include the following: a yearly
system inspection to maintain system reliability and special inspection and service, whenever
activation occurs due to apparent or suspected malfunction.
1001.5.1.4 (Alarm Company) Responsibilities of the alarm company shall include any work or
test on any alarm system and shall not be performed without prior notification to the Fire
Dispatch Center, when said work or test will or may cause activation of the alarm and response
by the Fire District. Such notification shall be made by the alarm company via the Fire Dispatch
business (non-emergency) telephone number. Alarm activation due to work performed or tests
without prior notification of the Fire Dispatch shall constitute a false alarm.
