Chapter 6.04 ALAMEDA COUNTY FIRE CODE*
Section 6.04.110 Article 10— Fire Protection Systems and Equipment, Section 1006— Fire Alarm Systems amended.
A.
Section 1006.2.2.1 (General) is amended to read:
1. Group A Division 1, 2, 2.1 and
3 Occupancies shall be provided with a manual and an
automatic fire alarm system in accordance with Section 1006.2. Exception 1 and 2 are retained as
worded.
B.
Section 1006.2.4.1 (General) is amended to read:
Group E, Division 1 and 3 Occupancies shall be provided with
fire alarm systems in
accordance with Section 1006.2.4. Group E, Division 1 Occupancies and Division 3 Occupancies
having an occupant load of 50 or more shall be provided with an approved manual and automatic
fire alarm system. When automatic sprinkler systems or smoke detectors provided in accordance
with Section 1006.2.4.2 are installed, such system or systems shall be connected to the building
fire alarm system, and the building fire alarm system shall be both automatic and manual. See
also Section 1006.2.12.
C.
Section 1006.2.9.1.1 (General) is amended by deletion of Exception 2 only.
D.
Section 1006.4 (False Alarms) is added to this code to read:
1006.4.1 (Excessive False Alarms) Malfunctions, or mechanical trip of any sprinkler alarm or
other fire protection or detection system resulting in an alarm and emergency dispatch of the Fire
Department shall be subject to a false alarm charge as established by this Code.
1006.4.2 (Exception) During a thirty (30) day period following the installation of any new fire
alarm system, the Fire Chief shall determine if the false alarms emanating from said new
installation are excessive.
1006.4.3 (Charges) After the initial thirty (30) day period following the installation of a new
system, two (2) false alarms within a consecutive ninety (90) day period shall be deemed
excessive and will be charged as false alarms.
