Attention:
CDLAC is not currently providing MCC funds to counties statewide. As a result, Alameda County will not have MCC funds and will not be able to distribute MCC's this year. Some counties are able to issue MCC's due to funds remaining from previous allocations, however Alameda County exhausted its 2019 allocation of funds in October 2019.
We hope that CDLAC reevaluates the allocation of funds for Single Family First-Time Homebuyer Programs for 2023.
Updated Spring 2022
Alameda County Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) runs the Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) Program throughout the County. An MCC provides the income eligible first-time home buyer with an opportunity to reduce the amount of federal income tax they owe each year they own and live in their home. The MCC assists a family in qualifying for a higher first mortgage, with no effect on monthly expenses.
HCD also issues Refinanced Mortgage Credit Certificates (RMCC) when the homeowner refinances their original MCC Loan. RMCC's must be issued for each refinance in order for the homeowner to continue receiving the federal tax credit.
If you are a first time homebuyer interested in applying for a Mortgage Credit Certificate or you are refinancing your loan which has a MCC Certificate, please contact one of the pre-approved Participating Lenders from the list below. They must submit the application on your behalf.
