Phase 1
Alameda County’s Housing and Community Development Department received an allocation of $2.1 million in
NSP funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to address the problem of abandoned
and foreclosed homes. To receive these funds, the County prepared a Substantial Amendment to its Consolidated Plan
and made the draft available for public comment for a period of 15 days.
Phase 2
In February, President Obama signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), which authorized an additional
$2 billion nationwide for a second round of NSP which may be used for the same purposes as provided in the original NSP Program.
