Building community through public area and neighborhood improvements, constructing facilities, and residential rehabilitation are the primary focus of the Community Development Agency. In 2005, the Neighborhood Preservation and Sustainability Department was formed to consolidate all of the Neighborhood Preservation and Sustainability needs of the Agency.

The Community Development Agency's Housing and Community Development Department, Agriculture/Weights & Measures Department and the Redevelopment Agency's Neighborhood Preservation and Sustainability projects, as well as Agency facility design and construction, are managed through this department. Coordination with outside agencies, such as Public Works, in using livability principles when designing and constructing public space and roadways, will continue to benefit all the citizens of the unincorporated County.
