Hesperian Streetscape Project

Overview

The Hesperian Corridor Streetscape Improvement Project will provide improvements to portions of Hesperian Boulevard, from Interstate 880 to West A Street (approximately 1.5 miles). Improvements focus on enhancing the quality of the pedestrian environment.

Hesperian Boulevard Streetscape Project Phase I

The Hesperian Boulevard Streetscape Project Phase I will include improvements to Hesperian Boulevard, from Interstate 880 to Via Mercado. Existing sidewalks will be reconstructed and widened to provide a more generous walking area. Street trees, pedestrian scale streetlights, bus shelters, and other pedestrian amenities are also included. Other improvements include renovation of an existing bridge railing over San Lorenzo creek to provide a more pleasing gateway, colored concrete crosswalks, and increased landscaping. The utility poles and wires currently located in the median will be undergrounded as part of a PG&E Rule 20A project. This project will occur concurrently with the streetscape project.
