Overview

The goals of the Redevelopment Strategic Plan are to construct a development strategy and urban design that will define a vision and the future economic potential for downtown Castro Valley and help to prioritize spending of redevelopment dollars.

The objectives are to create:

a downtown where people want to go and spend time;
an environment that will support economic vitality;
a pedestrian friendly main street atmosphere

To make certain that development strategies incorporate the community's desires, the 9 month process will include 5 community meetings & consumer and merchant surveys.

The other major planning effort that will occur simultaneously with the Redevelopment Strategic Plan will be the update of the Castro Valley General Plan. The General Plan process looks at circulation, housing, land use, & open space needs for all of Castro Valley. For information on the General Plan go to: http://www.castrovalleygeneralplan.org
