Business/Child Care Partnership and Investment Opportunities

• Meet periodically with members of the Alameda County Child Care Planning Council or Local Investment in Child Care (LINCC) Project Advisory Committee to shape the child care field’s business outreach and advocacy efforts to strengthen the child care infrastructure.

• The Alameda Child Care Fund was launched in 2001 with seed capital from Providian Financial Corporation, the County Social Services Agency, and Every Child Counts.  In its first year, the Fund created 250 child care spaces and improved the physical child care settings for over 2,000 children through its no interest, deferred loans and grants for facility development, quality improvement, and emergency repairs.  The Fund is currently pursuing fund development to capitalize its second year of grants.

• Have your name publicized in papers, websites, and print publications regarding your company’s support for child care community investments or employer child care policies.
• Write op-eds for business trade papers or regional papers regarding the importance of business investments in the child care infrastructure for the regional economy and corporate return on investment.
• Speak one on one with interested businesses regarding your experience developing and implementing employer child care.
• Speak with groups of businesses, such as Chambers of Commerce, about your company’s rationale and experience developing employer child care.
• Endorse key child care infrastructure related state or local legislation.
