CalWORKs Workgroup
Introduction: This group of CalWORKs Child Care contractors and the County Social Services Agency designed and implemented the CalWORKs Child Care System for Alameda County. The workgroup is staffed by the Social Services Agency with support from the Planning Council and meets monthly in Hayward to evaluate progress and develop improvements in the County’s CalWORKs child care system.

In recent months, the CalWORKs Workgroup has:
- Facilitated a smooth county-wide implementation of new state regulations regarding the Regional Market Rate, which is used to determine payments to providers of subsidized care.
- Developed and implemented inter-agency policy and procedures for transfer of Stage 1 families to Stage 2.
- Developed, distributed and collected updated rate sheets for providers throughout the county.
- Created a system for county-wide reporting of caseload and expenditure data for CalWORKs child care.
- Implemented policies to address cases of parent and provider fraud.
- Monitored state and federal legislation and regulations impacting CalWORKs Child Care program and service delivery.
