Case Number Format:
Effective January 1, 2003, a new case number format was implemented. The prefix indicates the location at which the case was filed, followed by the case type, followed by the year filed, followed by a six-digit case number.
| Case Locations | Case Types |
| A = Alameda / George E. McDonald | F = Family Law |
| B = Berkeley Courthouse | G = General Civil |
| F = Fremont Hall of Justice | P = Probate |
| H = Hayward Hall of Justice | S = Small Claims |
| R = Rene C. Davidson County Courthouse | |
| V = Gale / Schenone Hall of Justice | |
| W = Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse / Allen E. Broussard Justice Center | |
Example: A Family Law case filed in 2003 at the Rene C. Davidson County Courthouse would be numbered RF03012345, and a General Civil case filed in 2003 in Fremont would be numbered FG03054321.
Previous Format:
Case numbers for cases filed in DOMAIN consist of ten numbers: the year in which the case was filed, followed by a six-digit number.
If your case number is less than 6 numbers, you must add leading zeros to use DomainWeb.
Example: Case number 1234, filed in 1998, would be entered as 1998ии1234.
Converted Cases:
Case numbers for cases filed before DOMAIN was implemented consist of alphabetic characters followed by a six-digit number. Please note that the alphabetic characters must be entered as upper case letters.

| C- = Oakland (Hyphen is required) | P- = Oakland or Fremont (Hyphen is required) |
| CH = Hayward | PH = Hayward |
