ACFD Station 34

2333 Powell Street Emeryville, CA 94608

The Powell Street Fire Station (Fire Station 34) will be temporarily closed for major building repairs from January 13, 2015 through late June/early July 2015. The firefighters housed in Fire Station 34 have been relocated and conduct operations out of ACFD Fire Station 35 located at 6303 Hollis Street. The ACFD anticipates response times during the construction period will be maintained at a five minute maximum response time throughout Emeryville during the relocation. Dispatch services (emergency calls) will not be affected and will still be routed through 9-1-1.

The Fire Station Improvement Project is designed to address a chronic roof leak issue which caused some damage to the interior of the building. The station was built in 1989 and the roof has surpassed its useful life expectancy of 20-25 years. Additionally, the fire station will be updated with energy efficient upgrades such as solar panels installed on the roof as well as energy efficient appliances and replacement of the existing heating and ventilation system. The building and its major subsystems should be sufficiently updated to be generally serviceable for at least another twenty years as a result of this project.
