We sincerely hope that you and your families are all well and healthy. To those who were able and have continued to work during the COVID-19 emergency, we extend our sincere thank you.
As you know, after the Interim Health Officer issued the prior Shelter in Place Order, the Board of Supervisors generously adopted two programs for the period March 17, 2020, through April 7, 2020, with the express purpose of affording employees time to make the necessary arrangements to return to work on April 8, 2020. One measure allowed all employees who took time off during that period to remain in paid status. The second measure allowed employees who worked during that period to earn a special category of paid administrative leave to be used at a later date. As stated when announced, both programs end on April 7, 2020.
Effective April 8, 2020, we continue to urge those who can work from home to do so when authorized by their departmental leadership. Please make sure you are in contact with your Department Human Resources office and/or your Department Head if you have a classification and position that affords you the ability to work from home.
Over the last week, the Family First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) was passed by Congress. It provides that under certain circumstances, an employee may qualify for full or partial pay while off work with verification that it is for certain COVID-19 related reasons. The County is receiving ongoing updates clarifying the FFCRA provisions and is working diligently to interpret FFCRA for implementation in the County. A Countywide announcement with additional information and more details will be issued prior to April 7, 2020.
Please be assured that we have taken protective measures to ensure the safety of our County employees who are working in the workplace. We remind you to practice social distancing, wash your hands, don't touch your face, and adhere to other recommendations of our Public Health Department and the CDC for workers performing essential governmental services.
The County continues to rely on our dedicated and skilled employees to provide critical safety net and infrastructure services to our most vulnerable residents and diverse communities.
