Sustainability Program Overview
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Alameda County is committed to decreasing the environmental impact of the services it delivers to its citizens. To support this commitment, the Sustainability Program works with General Services Agency partners and other County agencies to ensure that services are delivered and facilities are operated in a sustainable manner. Information on County sustainability efforts is provided on this website.
PROGRAM SCOPE
The Sustainability Program implements and supports programs to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials and equipment used by County agencies and to promote environmentally preferable purchasing. Additionally, the Program takes a lead role in implementing green building and green operating practices. The Program is designed to meet the requirements of Measure D (Waste Reduction and Recycling Initiative of 1990) and sustainability ordinances and resolutions such as those addressing green building, global warming, and persistent bioaccumulative toxins.
