Telephone Systems Network
Most County offices are served by telephone processing equipment and use telephone instruments purchased from AVAYA and/or SBC. A variety of access lines connected to the telephone systems provide direct inward dialing, direct outward calling, and intra-County calling.
A feature of our telephone systems network is the capability to dial a 5-digit extension number to reach other County offices, regardless of their location. The intra-County communications network substantially reduces the service area and message unit charges that would occur by dialing "9" to call other County locations. The network also provides the capability to forward and transfer calls between locations and provides a difference in the ringing cycle between incoming public calls and 5-digit dialed intra-County calls.
Telephone numbers for County departments can be found at HTTP://www.acgov.org - link telephone directory, link to a read-only doc. (List of county lead #'s, used for the SBC directory) App/Public.
Voice Messaging System
The GSA-Communications Department manages the County Voice Messaging System, which serves all County agencies/departments. The system performs many functions, the largest of which are telephone answering and voice mail.
The allocation and use of County-owned cellular telephones is governed by resolution number R-90-688. All purchases of cell phones and services must go through GSA Purchasing in accordance with County policies and guidelines.
