Alameda County is committed to hire, promote and retain qualified individuals with disabilities and/or medical conditions. Pursuant to the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), California's Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), and other applicable statutes, Alameda County provides reasonable accommodations to enable individuals to be considered for jobs, perform the essential functions of their jobs, and enjoy equal benefits and privileges of employment.

The County will assist applicants and employees in identifying an appropriate accommodation through a timely good-faith interactive process pursuant to the County's Reasonable Accommodation Policy and Procedure.

Submit a Request

Employees may initiate a request for reasonable accommodation in writing or verbally to their immediate supervisor. Medical documentation must be provided to support an accommodation request. Employees can obtain a request for reasonable accommodation (as outlined below) or obtain specific information on reasonable accommodation by contacting their Agency/Department Human Resource Office/Disability Coordinator or the Disability Programs Division.

Applicants/Candidates may request a reasonable accommodation to participate in an Alameda County examination and/or to participate in the departmental hiring interview process. To request a reasonable accommodation, an applicant/candidate must notify the Human Resource Services Department representative listed on the examination announcement and submit their accommodation request (as outlined below) and supporting documentation. The reasonable accommodation request must be made as soon as possible and before the last day to file an application in order to make necessary arrangements during each step of the examination process.
