California Appellate Briefs on the Web

The Los Angeles County Law Library is in the process of scanning their collection of California appellate briefs to provide free web access. So far, briefs from 2008 and after are being scanned and are searchable by docket number through their website: http://briefs.lalawlibrary.org/research/default.aspx.

California Supreme Court and Appellate Court Briefs on Microfiche

California Supreme Court and California Appellate Court briefs are available on microfiche. These briefs can be viewed and printed at the library. Printing costs 50 cents per page. Briefs can also be ordered through the library's document delivery service at (510) 208-4832.

California Supreme Court and Appellate Court Briefs from 1895-1935 are available.

California Appellate Court Briefs from 1969-1996 are arranged by published citation. Beginning with1996 and going forward, briefs are arranged by docket number for both published and unpublished cases.

Retrospective coverage of California Appellate Court Briefs from 1972-1995 is arranged by docket number.

For California Supreme Court Briefs beginning in 1969 and going forward, the briefs before 1996 are arranged by published citation, after 1996 the briefs are arranged by docket number. These briefs include both published and unpublished cases.

California Public Law Library Briefs Service

This West database in the library provides access to petitions and briefs filed with the California Supreme Court and the California Courts of Appeal. Included on the web site are briefs and petitions dated from 1990 and forward for the California Supreme Court, and briefs and petitions dated from 1996 and forward for the California Courts of Appeal. Briefs and petitions can be searched by docket number or case name.
