The PDF format means that footnotes appear on the same page as the related text. Tables and illustrations appear exactly as in the print law review. HeinOnline is available in the library on most library computers and available over WiFi to your laptops at http://www.heinonline.org only within the libraries. Choose "Subscribers Click Here to Enter".LEXIS LEXIS provides searching, printing and e-mailing of federal primary law such as federal cases, USCS (United States Code Service), and federal regulations as well as all 50 states’ codes and cases. For California, LEXIS supplies Deering’s California Code Annotated. LEXIS is available from desktop computers within the libraries.LLMC – Law Library Microform Consortium Provides web access to many older state and federal materials from the judicial, legislative, and executive branches of the government. For example the U.S. Statutes At Large are available in full text from 1875-1936. In addition U.S. territories, Anglo- American Collections, Foreign Jurisdictions, International Law and Organizations, and Multi-Jurisdictional Subject Collections are available. LLMC is on most computer workstations in the Main Library and the Branch Library in Hayward. Laptop access using WiFi is available at http://ets.umdl.umich.edu/cgi/t/text/text-idx?g=llmc;page=home within both libraries.OnLAW Provides web access to all of CEB's print materials in such areas as Business Law, Civil Litigation, Criminal Law, Employment Law, Estate Planning, Evidence, Family Law, Real Property, Torts, and Workmen's Compensation. Laptop access is available to CEB's materials and its downloadable forms in Word at http://buzz.ceb.ucop.edu/lawlibraries/alameda.asp in both libraries via WiFi. OnLAW is available on several public computers at the Main Library and on a public computer at the Branch Library in Hayward.Shepard's Federal and state cases and codes may be verified and new citations found by using this web-based service. Features Lexis access to full text of cases and codes as well as printing and E-mail capabilities from library workstations. The library has replaced most of its hardcopy Shepards Citations sets with this online service.Traffic School The Law Library acts as an approved testing site for the final test for these online traffic schools: Web Traffic School, A Better Traffic School (ABTS) and NIDD Affiliated Schools. The NIDD Affiliated Schools include BestTrafficSchool.com, ComedyTrafficSchool.com, EscuelaDeTrafico.com, HomeTrafficSchool.com, IDriveSafely.com, NationalTrafficSchool.com, TrafficSchoolToGo.com, and TrafficSchoolUSA.com. Please bring your driver’s license for identification. Sign in at the Reference Desk on the first floor of the Alameda County Law Library at 125 Twelfth Street, Oakland or at the Hayward Branch Library at 224 W. Winton, Hayward. Arrive at least 30 minutes before the library closes.VerdictSearch VerdictSearch finds dollar amounts from jury verdicts, settlement agreements, judgments, and ADR decisions which can be searched by type of injury, cause of action, plaintiff by age or gender, court , presiding judge, key word, and expert witness from all states or one state. This database can help in evaluating whether to take a case, what damages to ask for, and how to evaluate settlement offers. Westlaw Full Westlaw search capabilities for Primary Law materials, law reviews and selected treatises and secondary sources. Xspouse Xspouse is certified for court use by the California Judicial Council. It includes a property divider and arrearage calculator. Xspouse is available on some library computers. There is no WiFi access toXspouse. Bring your financial information such as your tax return in order to complete the Xspouse forms. Document DeliveryThe library operates a fee-based document delivery service. Library materials can be copied, then mailed, faxed, or e-mailed. Call (510) 208-4832 for information. Library staff require an exact citation and will not do legal research.The fees are moderate. A handling charge of $10.00 applies to all orders. Copying and mailing of hardcopy materials (paper) is $1.00 per page plus postage; microfiche materials are $1.25 per page plus postage. Hardcopy materials can be faxed at $1.00 per page, microfiche at a $1.25 per page. E-mailed material is $15.00 a citation. Not all material can be e-mailed. For out-of-state requests, add $0.50 per page. Mailing and UPS charges are additional. The rush transmittal fee for requests needed within one hour is $25.00. Conference Rooms

Copiers and Fax MachinesCoin-operated photocopiers and microfiche reader-printers are available at both locations. Copies cost twenty cents ($.20) per page. The copier machines accept nickels, dimes, quarters, one-dollar bills, and five-dollar bills. A faxing service is available at the Main Library. The library charges $2.50 per page to send a fax and $1.00 per page to receive a fax.Language Line for TranslatorTo expand access to reference service for non-English speaking patrons, the law library now maintains a subscription to Language Line, a telephone interpretation service. Offering interpretation service in over 170 languages, Language Line facilitates communication between staff librarians and non-English speaking patrons through a third-party interpreter. Non-English speakers seeking legal information and referrals can take advantage of this over-the-phone translation service by visiting the Reference Desk at the Main or Branch libraries, or by calling the Reference Desk at the Main Library at (510) 208-4832.* Portable Document Format (PDF) file requires the free Adobe Reader. |
