Zone 9 Hydrology

This zone has a different type of watershed than other District zones, with no natural creeks and less than a mile of earthen channel. Concrete-lined channels and underground pipes move most of the zone’s stormwater to San Francisco Bay aided by four pumping stations.

Zone 9 Major Projects

Prime Pumps with SCADA

pumpsAs of 2006, all four pump stations in Zone 9 have been upgraded with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). monitoring technology installed. SCADA allows a graphical display of operational data for each station on a laptop computer enabling District engineers to identify and resolve potential trouble more efficiently, even from a remote location.
