Transportation Projects

East Avenue Roadway Reconstruction

This project extends from the E Street Intersection with East Avenue east to Windfeldt Road Intersection with East Avenue. The work consists of pedestrian ramps and roadway reconstruction.

Schedule: The project began in the October 2006 but has been on hold pending design issues. Property Owners will be notified by the contractor when work is to begin in their area.

Work Update: The contractor has installed all the pedestrian ramps on the project. Scheduling for the remaining roadway reconstruction work is being determined.

You can expect traffic delays traveling on East Avenue when the roadway reconstruction begins due to temporary roadway and lane closures when required. Detour routes will be posted when necessary

Hampton & Meekland Avenue Intersection improvements

This project consists of installing new curb, gutter and sidewalk at the Hampton and Meekland intersection.

Schedule: Work began September 4th and will extend until the middle/end of November.

Work Update: Contractor will be installing temporary striping and pavement markings. These will be in place until the slurry application can be applied to the roadway.

You can expect delays traveling on Meekland and Hampton Avenue in the vicinity of the construction zone. Detours will be posted when necessary.

Eden Canyon Slide Repair

This project is located on Eden Canyon Road at mile marker 1.75. The work consists of repairs to the hillside slope along the west side of the roadway.

Schedule : The project began in the beginning of February 2008 and will extend until May 2008. Property Owners will be notified by the contractor when work is to begin in their area.

Work Update : The slope stabilization work is under way.

You can expect traffic delays traveling on Eden Canyon Road due to temporary roadway and lane closures when required.

Pavement Rehabilitation Program

These projects are at various locations throughout the unincorporated areas of Alameda County. The work consists of pedestrian ramp installation, roadway base repairs and asphalt overlay and slurry seal applications to the roadway surface.

Schedule : The pedestrian ramp installation project began in January 2008 and will extend until March 2008. The roadway base repair and asphalt overlay projects are scheduled to begin in the beginning of March 2008 and extend until May 2008. The slurry seal application is scheduled to be performed in May 2008. Property Owners will be notified by the appropriate contractor when work is to begin in their area.

Work Update : The slope stabilization work is under way.

You can expect traffic delays traveling on the effected roadways during the Rehabilitation program. Detour routes will be posted when necessary.

Worthley Avenue & Baumann Drive - Pavement Rehabilitation Project

Supervisor Alice Lai-Bitker and the Alameda County Public Works Agency (PWA) is planning to improve the pavement on Worthley Avenue and Baumann Drive. The project consists of removing the existing pavement and replacing with new pavement to provide for a safer and smoother ride along these two roadways. Minor curb and gutter repairs and construction of pedestrian ramps at the intersection of Worthley Drive and Baumann Avenue are also included. Construction is expected to last approximately one and one-half months.

Stage 2 Construction (March 28 – March 31) Friday 6 p.m. thru following Monday 6 a.m.; The Contractor will remove and replace the pavement on Baumann Avenue (3 days).

Stage 3 Construction (April 4 – 7) Friday 6 p.m. thru following Monday 6 a.m: The Contractor will remove and replace the pavement on Worthley Drive between Baumann Avenue and the southerly end (3 days).

Stage 4 Construction (April 11 – 14) Friday 6 p.m. thru following Monday 6 a.m.; The Contractor will remove and replace the pavement on Worthley Drive between Grant Avenue and Baumann Avenue (3 days).

Stage 1 Construction (April 14 - 25) Monday thru Friday 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.: The Contractor will construct curb and gutter repairs on all roadways (10 days).

Stage 5 Construction (April 26 - May 1) Friday 6 p.m. thru following Monday 6 a.m.; Monday thru Thursday 7 a..m. – 5 p.m.: The Contractor will finish paving and any remaining work on all roadways (6 days).

For you information only, the paving work that will start this Friday night should be complete by Saturday morning.

Note: the above dates are tentative pending weather and subsurface conditions.

Flood Projects

Crossing Improvements of Line F-1 Channel at Sycamore Avenue in the City of Newark

The project consists of installation of an additional box culvert adjacent to the existing box culvert.

Schedule : The project is scheduled to begin in April 2008 and extend until August 2008. Property Owners will be notified by the contractor when work is to begin in their area

Work Update : The work has not begun yet.
