Transportation Projects

Fairview Avenue Pathway Project

This project extends along Fairview Avenue from the traffic circle at the intersection of Hansen Avenue and extends to the intersection of Old Fairview Avenue. The work consists installing a new storm drain system and pedestrian walkway along the western side of the roadway.

Schedule: The project began in January 2009 and will extend until March 2009.

Work Update: The contractor will be installing the drainage system until mid February.  You can expect delays when traveling on Fairview Avenue in the vicinity of the construction zone.

Vasco Road Construction

This project consists of relocation of Vasco Road from the vicinity of mileposts 3.0 to 4.3.  The work will consist of grading, construction of a roadway pavement system, and installation of median barriers, retaining walls and drainage systems..

Schedule: The project began in August 2008 and will extend until October 2009.

Work Update: The is no construction activity at this time.  The grading operations on the site will restart once the weather permits.

Park Street and High Street Bridge Retrofit

This project consists of a seismic retrofit of both the Park Street and High Street Bridges connecting the cities of Alameda and Oakland across the Estuary.

Schedule: Retrofit of the Park Street Bridge is scheduled to begin in February 2009 and extend until May 2009.  Retrofitting of the High Street Bridge will begin after completion of the Park Street Bridge and extend until August 2009.

Work Update: The work on the Park Street will begin on the north side of the bridge.  The two east bound lanes of traffic will not be affected during the work on the north side of the bridge, however the west bound of traffic will be restricted to one lane of traffic.  You can expect traffic delays traveling on the Bridge during the construction hours of 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  Traffic will not be restricted during non-construction hours and weekends.

Flood Projects

Laguna Creek Flood Control Improvement Projects

Phase 1 – Culvert capacity improvement at Roberts Avenue crossing

    The project consists, in general, of preparing and implementing water pollution control plan; providing traffic control and construction area signs; installing temporary de-watering system; providing trench and excavation protection; constructing approximately 75 feet of double 6’ x 7’ reinforced concrete box culverts (cast-in-place); constructing reinforced concrete transition structures; sawcutting, removing and reconstructing concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveway; furnishing, placing and compacting aggregate base, asphalt concrete and structure backfill material; removing, reinstalling and replacing chain link fence; and miscellaneous work.

    Preliminary Project Schedule

    Project development and preliminary engineering – June 2009 thru October 2009
    Final design and preparation of plans, specifications and estimates – November 2009 thru April 2010
    Project Advertisement – April 2010
    Project Award – June 2010
    Construction – July thru October 2010
