Alameda County Public Works is the administering agency of General Ordinance Code, Chapter 6.88 .  The purpose of this chapter is to provide for the regulation of groundwater wells and exploratory holes as required by California Water Code.  The provisions of these laws are administered and enforced by Alameda County Public Works Agency through its Well Standards Program.

Permits are required for all work pertaining to wells and exploratory holes at any depth within the jurisdiction of the Well Standards Program.  A completed permit application, along with a site map, should be submitted at least ten (10) working days prior to the planned start of work.  Submittals should be sent to the address or fax number provided on the application form.  When submitting an application via fax, please use a high resolution scan to retain legibility.

Attention: Well Application fees will increase starting on July 1, 2008.
For construction and destruction of all wells the fee will be $345.00 each well (Previous $300.00)
For all boreholes  applications the fee will be $230.00 per site (Previous $200.00)
Inspection fees are included into the permit fees.
