Objective The Commission shall advise and assist the Board of Supervisors on matters relating to veterans and their families as may pertain to meeting their needs for veteran's benefits, housing, food; shelter, transportation, and employment.

Term (Seats) 3 years, with a maximum of 12 successive years or until a successor has been designated.
Meetings Meetings occur monthly, on the 3rd Monday, from 10 am to 12 pm. The meeting site alternates. Contact the Commission staff for more information.
Qualifications Veteran must be honorably discharged from the military service; be a registered voter of the County of Alameda; all qualifying requirements for seats representing organizations must be verified by the organizations they represent and by the nominating committee.
Appointments Two representatives of the American Legion; two representatives of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; two representatives of the Vietnam Veterans of America; two representatives of Disabled American Veterans; one representative of American Veterans of Wars, AMVETS; two representatives of Women Veterans (Members at Large); one representative of the Marine Corp League; one representative of the Iraq/Afghanistan Veterans of America; one representative of the Military Officers Association of America; one representative of District 1 (Member at Large); one representative of District 2 (Member at Large); one representative of District 3 (Member at Large); one representative of District 4 (Member at Large); one representative of District 5 (Member at Large); two representatives of veterans who are not otherwise affiliated with a chartered veteran's organization (Members at Large); and one nonveteran representative of widows and dependents of veterans that is a non-voting advisory position (Member at Large).
