Alameda County Environmental Health's Land Use Program Overview
Alameda County Department of Environmental Health (ACEH), Land Use Program coordinates with the San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board (SFRWQCB) to permit Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (OWTS's) also known as Septic Systems for sewage disposal and to ensure safe, potable water on new and existing development projects in Unincorporated areas of Alameda County.
The mission of the Environmental Health Land Use Program is to help you identify the best solution for wastewater disposal in order to protect human health and the environment. The Land Use Program Staff is dedicated to acting as your liaison, while maneuvering through the planning, development and permitting process of projects requiring OWTS's.
This website is intended to provide information and tools to help you plan, build, expand or maintain your residential or commercial project, and realize your vision for economic growth and development.
