Board of Supervisors
Susan S. Muranishi, County Administrator

April 30, 2020

We hope that you are well and taking care of yourself and your family. As you know, the County of Alameda—along with other Bay Area counties—continues to put measures in place to keep our employees and residents safe as we combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, the County Health Officer and her Bay Area colleagues extended the Shelter-In-Place Order through May 31, 2020.

Attached is a copy of the Alameda County Health Officer’s Order dated April 29, 2020, as well as the joint press statement issued by all seven Bay Area health officers.

According to the latest Alameda County Shelter-In-Place Order, County residents must continue to shelter in their places of residence to slow the spread of COVID-19 and mitigate the impact on the delivery of critical services to our residents and diverse communities. This Order allows a limited number of additional essential and outdoor business activities to resume while the Health Officers continue to assess the severity of COVID-19 and monitor indicators described in Section 11 of the Order.

We know that you are all doing your best to comply with the guidance provided by the County Health Officer and appreciate your cooperation during this unprecedented health emergency. Please continue to be diligent in your efforts: wash your hands, wear your face coverings, and practice physical distancing.

Be well. Be safe. Take care.
