Official Public Record Availability
Official public records, which date back to 1853, can be found alphabetically by names of parties identified on the documents. For new records, please allow 2 weeks from the filing date of the document before ordering a copy. For records dating from 1853 – 1968, copy requests must be made by mail or in person.
Documents filed before 1969 cannot be searched online, and must be searched in person.
Ordering Copies of Official Records By Mail
You may pay by check (personal, company, bank, or cashier's), money order or traveler's checks. Out of country payments must
be made in U.S. dollars. Credit cards are not accepted for mail orders. NOTE: Copy requests take
5 - 10 business days to complete.
Step 1: Write your request and include the filing number that was stamped on
the statement at the time it was filed, the fictitious business name, or the owner's name. Step 2: Calculate
your copy fees. If you are unsure of the number of pages, write a check "not to exceed" dollar amount by figuring 5
pages per document and we will fill in the exact dollar amount. Step 3: Mail your request and your fee payment

Ordering Copies of Official Records In Person
You may pay by cash, debit/ATM, check (personal, company, bank, cashier's or traveler's) or money order. If you cannot come
into the office, you may send a representative or contact a title company for assistance. Check the yellow pages for

Step 2: You or your representative will
be asked to complete a copy request form and place your order with office staff. Payment for the copies is required
and most copy requests are completed at that time, unless the request consists of a large number of documents and/or
has a high page count. Such requests will take 1 - 3 business days to complete.
Copy requests received after 4:00 p.m. will be processed the next day.
Records prior to 1969 must be searched in person at the Alameda County Clerk-Recorder's Office. See "In Person" below.
Records from 1969 to present are electronically indexed and may be searched for online.
Official Public Record Copy Fees
Plain copies are $3.50 per page.
Certified copies are $4.50 for first page, $3.50 for each additional page.
