SUPERVISOR LAI-BITKER REACHES OUT TO SMALL BUSINESS
Oakland… On August 21 and August 22, 2002 Supervisor Lai-Bitker (Third District) is sponsoring a workshop on doing business with Alameda County. The Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Oakland Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce will cosponsor the first workshop while the Alameda and San Leandro Chambers of Commerce will cosponsor the second workshop.
Each workshop will cover Alameda County's Small Local Emerging Business Program and include staff from the General Services Agency and Public Works. Construction, Architectural, as well as Engineering and Professional services businesses will be the main target audience.
"I am very interested in improving our local contracting," says Lai-Bitker, " and many businesses need to be better informed so that they have an opportunity to bid on our many projects. This helps their business grow and augments the economic vitality of our communities. Everyone succeeds together!"
The workshops will be held at the County of Alameda Conference Center in Oakland from 8:30 am to 11:00 am. Space is limited and interested parties should register by calling (510) 272-6490. Participants can sign-up for either presentation.
For further information on this event you can call Supervisor Lai-Bitker's office at (510) 272-6693 and speak with Ruben Briones, staff assistant on business relations.
