BART Services

BART Charter Bus Service

In the event of a strike, BART will provide limited charter bus service between East Bay BART stations and downtown San Francisco. For more information, visit: BART Strike Update

BART Station Parking Lots

BART station parking lots will be made available for commuters who want to car pool. The long-term parking program will be suspended.

Due to a strike, all BART service is scheduled to stop starting Monday morning. During the strike, thousands of extra cars will be on the road, and other transit operators will have limited ability to expand service.

Alameda County is advising residents and our employees to allow extra time for the morning and evening commute. Commuters are advised to carpool, take an alternative transit service, avoid peak driving periods by traveling earlier or later than usual, or work at home if possible. Visit http://www.511.org or call 511 for transit and ridesharing assistance and real-time traffic information.

Take the bus or train

Visit http://transit.511.org for personalized route planning. The trip planner will automatically exclude BART during the strike.

Bicycle

Ride your bike to work, the bus stop, or the ferry. The East Bay Bicycle Coalition and http://bicycling.511.org/ have helpful information available on biking to work, maps of bike routes and safety tips.

Take the ferry

Carpool

Alameda County is encouraging the public and our employees to ask your colleagues about ridesharing to help reduce traffic congestion. You'll also be able to take advantage of "high-occupancy vehicle" (HOV) lanes. Visit rideshare.511.org for online carpool matching and locations of Park and Ride lots. For information on casual carpool stops in San Francisco and the East Bay, visit www.ridenow.org/carpool/.

Avoid congestion

Check http://traffic.511.org or call 511 before you leave home or work and go another way if your route is congested.

Order FasTrak

If you plan to travel across any of the Bay Area's eight toll bridges and do not already have a FasTrakŪ prepaid electronic toll tag, you are encouraged to open a FasTrak account right away. You can pick up a toll tag at a participating Costco or Safeway and register it online or by phone. More information at: www.bayareafastrak.org .
