Trina Ostrander is a longtime champion of education in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) who uses creativity and networking prowess to foster STEM education in local schools and communities. Trina is especially committed to expanding opportunities in STEM for low-income communities, families and students. Trina is currently Executive Director of the East Bay STEM Institute at Cal State East Bay, where she coordinates partnerships to advance STEM education policies and programs for children and students from "cradle to career." She is former Associate Director of Public Policy and Communications with Bayer in Berkeley, where she managed corporate social responsibility programs including those designed to prepare disadvantaged students for employment in biotech and STEM industries. She also has been instrumental in the formation of learning labs in Berkeley, Concord, East Oakland and Emeryville that give low-income students access to technology and STEM professionals.
