A properly completed Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted with each application. Applications and Supplemental Questionnaires must be in the possession of the Human Resource Services Department by 4:30 p.m. on the Last Day for Filing. Postmarks are not accepted. Failure to submit the Supplemental Questionnaire will result in disqualification. THE POSITION(S): Information Systems Analysts plan, develop, implement and evaluate information, financial and special purpose data for the purpose of improving operations; conduct and participate in organizational and management analysis. Incumbents have overall responsibility for the acquisition, planning, implementation, administration, maintenance and support of all departmental computer networks (LAN and WAN) and computer hardware and software in support of the administrative/management activities in a small to medium sized County department or of a major program area in a large County department or agency. THE REQUIREMENTS: These are entrance requirements for admission to the examination, which is competitive. Possession of the entrance requirements does not assure a place on the eligible list. A candidate's performance in the examination will be judged in comparison with the performance of other candidates. EXPERIENCE: The equivalent of three years of full-time experience planning, developing and administering multiple complex data processing systems and applications and coordinating a variety of data processing activities. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: The Computer Services Division in some departments operate on a 24-hour per day, seven-day per week, 365-day per year basis. In order to provide these services, Information Systems Analysts may be required to work grave, swing and day shifts, as well as weekends and holidays.
The examination may include but may not be limited to: KNOWLEDGE OF generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted auditing standards, proper English usage; computer applications and information systems used in office and accounting contexts; management methods. ABILITY TO apply generally accepted accounting practices; identify deficiencies in fiscal controls or noncompliance with established accounting policies and procedures; schedule and revise work plans; communicate effectively, orally and in writing. The examination may include, but will not necessarily be limited to, an appraisal of candidates' KNOWLEDGE OF advanced computer technology; data processing concepts; computer networking; modern office practices; management principles and techniques; supervision of others; systems and procedures analysis; office software; cabling requirements, computer installations and communication hardware; and an assessment of candidates' ABILITY TO communicate effectively, orally and in writing; make decisions effectively; analyze and problem solve; plan and organize; analyze budgets; establish and maintain management control; program computers; interface with users at all levels of the organization; adapt to changing circumstances. THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF the following three steps: A review of candidates' applications to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process, a screening of applications and/or Supplemental Questionnaires to select the best qualified candidates who will move on to the next step in the examination process, which is an oral interview weighted as 100% of the candidate's final examination score.
