CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)

CASA is a nationally-based organization that provides one-to-one court advocacy to abused, neglected and abandoned children who are dependents of the juvenile court. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to support the child's education, medical, mental health, family connections and permanent placement planning. Alameda County CASA promotes and supports quality volunteer advocates to speak for the best interests of the children to achieve the greatest possible positive outcomes. CASA's have proven impact: to shorten time spent in foster care; lessen chance of the child re-entering welfare system; help children and families receive services and to function as a juvenile delinquency prevention program.
