Solar energy at County facilities helps reduce our carbon footprint.

At the County, we recognize that the cleanest energy is the energy we don't use in the first place. Through energy efficiency projects at Alameda County buildings, we save about $6 million taxpayer dollars per year while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

We also invest in generating our own clean energy with 11 large-scale solar installations at County facilities and a one-megawatt fuel cell plant. These clean energy projects save taxpayers an estimated $700,000 per year.

Our commitment to energy efficiency and clean energy carries over into our community projects, where we've made energy efficient retrofits and installed solar panels.
