The Green Building ordinance requires that County facilities be built to a minimum of LEED® Silver. The Juvenile Justice Center achieved LEED® Gold.

Green Building Ordinance-County Buildings

Recognizing the importance of buildings on the County's energy use and carbon emission, the Board of Supervisor's approved in February 2026 an update to the Green Building Ordinance for County-owned buildings. This update continues to require projects to achieve a minimum LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council and adds requirements for all-electric buildings, energy efficient operations, EV charging infrastructure, renewable energy and resilience.
