Electric vehicles are just one of the green products Alameda County purchases. In April 2011, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an Environmentally Preferable Purchasing policy.

Purchasing Policy

At the County, we realize that purchases have social, human health, and environmental impacts on the local and global community. That's why we've been incorporating green purchasing specifications into our bids for over a decade. In order to promote these purchasing practices for all County spending, our Board of Supervisors adopted an Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Resolution and Policy in 2011. The Purchasing Department and Sustainability Program collaborate to implement the green purchasing program in order to achieve the environmental goals of the policy.
