General Audiences:
Environmental Justice is the basic right of all people to live, work, play and learn in a healthy and clean environment.

Throughout 2022, Alameda County is working with the public on an Environmental Justice project that prioritizes the unincorporated communities of Ashland, Cherryland, Hayward Acres, San Lorenzo, and Castro Valley. If you live, work, or go to school in one of these communities, the County wants to hear from you! The project will update the County's General Plan to respond to health and wellness issues in the priority communities, and public engagement is an essential part of this work.

Please join us for a community workshop to discuss environmental justice issues and solutions in your community:

You can also share your thoughts about environmental justice issues in your community by taking our survey in English or Spanish.

If you have any questions, please contact Ali Abbors in the Alameda County Planning Department at Alison.Abbors@acgov.org.

Faith-Based Groups:
Environmental Justice is the basic right of all people to live, work, play and learn in a healthy and clean environment.

In every social movement for justice, faith-based organizations and religious leaders have been drivers of change within the community. As communities grapple with the unequal impacts of climate change and the continued harms caused by past environmental injustices, faith groups can play a key role as advocates for environmental justice and community health and wellness.

Alameda County is actively seeking input from faith leaders and faith communities as we work on a new Environmental Justice project that centers the needs of the unincorporated communities of Ashland, Cherryland, Hayward Acres, San Lorenzo, and Castro Valley.

To participate:

If you have any questions, please contact Ali Abbors in the Alameda County Planning Department at Alison.Abbors@acgov.org.

Youth Leaders:
Youth leaders have always been on the frontline of social change, and youth organizers have an essential role in advancing generational justice and equity for their communities. As the effects of climate change become more apparent, and as our communities continue to grapple with the harms caused by past injustices, youth leaders will play a key role in ensuring the basic right of all people to a healthy and clean environment.

Young people have the robust imagination to envision a new and better future and to push the bounds of what's seen as possible. As Alameda County works on a new Environmental Justice project that centers the unincorporated communities of Ashland, Cherryland, Hayward Acres, San Lorenzo, and Castro Valley, we want to hear from youth leaders! Please join us and share your vision for a healthy environment and a healthy community.
