Shuttles to County Buildings

Shuttle service to one of the County's most frequented campuses helps the County meet our climate protection commitments.

Fairmont/Juvenile Justice Center Shuttle in San Leandro

Alameda County employees and residents can take advantage of convenient shuttle service to Alameda County's Fairmont Hospital and Juvenile Justice Center in San Leandro (as well as the Bay Fair Mall) from the Bay Fair BART station. The shuttle service, launched in April 2010, runs on a 20-minute loop from 6:30AM to 7:00PM from Monday to Friday.

The Alco Shuttle app was created by two Castro Valley High School students who interned with the County's Information Technology Department in the summer of 2013.

About the Shuttle

The service is affiliated with the County's new Clean Commute Program, a program providing services and incentives to encourage County employees to leave their cars at home or carpool to work. The shuttle is currently free to the public and Alameda County employees.

This shuttle service was made possible by a $280,000 grant from the Alameda County Congestion Management Authority, which operates separately from the County government.

Employee Shuttles

The County also operates two employee-only shuttles. In Oakland, a shuttle launched in October 2009 assists County staff commuting from Lake Merritt and 12th St. BART stations to reach the County headquarters and surrounding offices. In Hayward, a shuttle launched in May 2013 links the Hayward BART station to nearby County offices.
